- Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for functionality, performance, reliability, serviceability, cost and manufacturability of traction transformer products. - Collaborate with cross-functional international teams to complete electrical, mechanical, simulation, prototyping, and testing. - Engage in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support. - Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tools team. - Provide punctual technical support to factories, sales people and customers. - Lead project execution. - Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
- MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years or more of relevant experiences as a technical engineer or similar role in a global corporate environment or alternatively, Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years technical experience in mechanical design of electrical equipment such as transformer or railway equipment. - Strong team leadership and teamwork with cross-functional communications and influential skills. - Good project management skills, track record of delivering results on time, on budget and on quality with a structured work approach. - Familiar with 2D and 3D mechanical design tools and capable of 3D modeling tools, such as Auto CAD, ProE, CATIA, UG, SOLIDWORKS. - Competences in mechanical/thermal FEM (ANSYS/Abaqus/Fluent), especially fatigue simulations, (fluid mechanics knowledge would be an asset). - Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, experience in railway would be an asset. - Knowledge in product life cycle methods (i.e. specification, design, implementation, qualification). - Customer focused, self-motivated, energized, and results oriented. - Excellent interpersonal, creative thinking with demonstrated analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and process problems. - Ability to develop unique concepts/solutions for complex products, planning and conducting rigorous design of experiments and tests to verify and validate designs and completing technical documentation. - Knowledge of technologies for traction transformers preferred. - Willingness to travel. - Fluent in English (both speaking and writing).
